Washing and care

Short notes on keeping the covers, the mat and the plates in shape, including the first wash that surprises people.

Stuff 'n Sit cover

  • Empty it completely and turn it inside out.
  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle.
  • Wash a printed cover on its own the first time. One owner found the dinosaur print ran a little.
  • Hang it to dry, and close the zipper only when the fabric is dry.
  • Check the stuffed animals too. A cover washed around dusty plush is not clean for long.

SlideAway mat and basket

  • Shake the mat out over the basket so nothing stays in the folds.
  • Wipe the nylon mat with a damp cloth and let it dry open.
  • Spot clean the canvas basket. It is soft sided, so fill it before you judge its shape.

Plates and the wall panel

  • Wipe plates with a damp cloth. Stuck bricks come off easier with a brick separator than with fingernails.
  • Once a peel-and-stick plate is down, leave it down. The adhesive is meant to stay.
  • Check the wall panel fixings every few months, most of all in a room where children lean on it.
